Lower Graywolf

Here is a summary from the most recent report written by Rebecca Wanagel, Peninsula Chapter BCHW 2023 Trail Project Director.

TRAIL CREW NOTES
3/11/2023
Location: Lower Graywolf Trail, ONF
This crew is charmed with weather. There was some snow on the road getting to the trailhead but not too bad. The day was lovely. Chilly but dry and a good temperature for working. The Graywolf, as always, is lovely.
Accomplishments: We finished tidying up this trail so now it’s nice from the lower trailhead to the junction with the other Lower Graywolf trail. We brushed, raked, did tread work, drainage, dug out ferns, cut back branches, tossed things back from the trail, and made an extremely mucky, slippery corner and stream crossing safer. This was about ¾ mile of good work done. In all, between a few work crews, we have taken a long-neglected trail and revived it. It was a mess. Now it is easier to safely hike it while admiring the beauty of the surrounding Graywolf valley.
More work to do: There is a water crossing and switchback that need attention on the Cat Creek connector trail between the two Graywolf trails. That work party is posted but is limited in how many people because it’s not a large project site.
